Targeting a specific town - should I ask them what town they are from?

Hi there,

I am creating a screener survey to weed out people I do not want to interview. I am creating something for my local town so need to get people from this town and possibly people from surrounding areas.

In my survey, should I ask them to confirm they are from the town or ask them to state the town they are from to capture other and nearby areas?

Hi!

I would definitely ask them to confirm it, otherwise, your data is corrupt and your assumptions/conclusions might lead to a false/positive advice.
