Should you design and build for mobile if its not necessary?

Say you have a product that you are designing that you know through research and testing will not be used on a mobile device. Do you spend the design and dev. effort ($$$) to build it for mobile any way?

Curious what everyone’s thoughts on this are.

Hands down no. I’m curious to hear why anyone would (unless they have stakeholders that don’t support research findings).

Hi, Scott.

Absolutely, no.
Even if they’re used on mobile, we have to evaluate if a responsive website (and it limitations) would meet the use cases needs.
I believe many companies want to build apps because it’s cool, it boosts the brand awareness for some time, fulfils some egos and some people even might use them for a while…
