Portfolio - critique please!

Hey everyone,

I’ve just finished the immersive UX design course at General Assembly and have created my portfolio. I’m job hunting in Sydney at the moment, and was wondering if I could get some feedback on my work.

Please take a look and let me know what improvements you think I should make.

Thanks so much!

Hi Gloria,
I’m a HCI graduate student at Indiana University.
I checked out your portfolio, and it looks great. Especially the project pages, the way you state your contributions right on top is very effective. The organization of content and how you explain a reason for your design decisions is very useful. I really loved the way you have added user quotes: right down to the font selection, they look so good.

The only thing I think that could be improved is the home page. I felt I’d to scroll a lot to see all the projects.
When I was making my own portfolio, I took inspiration from these websites for the homepage:

  1. http://shuangshuang.li/
  2. http://www.emelynbaker.com/

Hope you find this feedback useful.

Wow Gloria – it’s looking amazing!

A few notes:

  • I like the clean design and the simple navigation
  • I find the behaviour of the greyscale overlay a bit disconcerting. It gets darker when it’s in focus, which feels counterintuitive
  • I love how you’ve told your story in a really honest way and included picture with context (rather than just a headshot)
  • You’ve done a fantastic job of documenting your process and the parts that you played in the projects

Love it!

Hey @enlightened_06 and @hawk,

Thanks so much for your feedback and kind words!

I feel that I can reduce the text, and use more infographics / images, in order to communicate the story better and make it easier to talk to in interviews. That’s what I’m going to work on this weekend.
