Name of technique

Hi!

I established a process that works for me, but I never read if someone has labelled it before me.

I design a software, in which users can create documents. When a product owner notices we need a new feature, I gather examples of documents in which users used workarounds for this feature. I cluster them and extract conclusions of which features we would need. It´s after gathering the examples, when we are able to phrase what they really wanted.

So it´s a technique that deals with behavioural data. Do you know if it has any name?
If I had to give it a name, I would call it example clustering.

Personally, I’d just look at this as a flavor of quantitative data analytics.

Actually, I gather around 10 examples searching for the reasons why they do what they do, so it would be rather qualitative than quantitative. I was imprecise with my description.
