Linking forum to site and vice versa?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some ideas on how I can integrate my site better with my forum giving my users and learners more opportunities to get feedback and helping them connect with other learners as well as teachers and coaches. As of now, the users of my forum are not aware of the existence of the site and vice versa. Most of the forum users google a specific question, find the answer in one of our forum threads and leave. While most of our site users find us via Google too but unfortunately too few of them transition to the forum. Any suggestions? Many thanks in advance :+1: :grinning:.

The 2 sites don’t share the same header and navigation so while users can move from your site to the forums, it’s not so obvious the other way.

If the user clicks the logo at the top of the forums, it goes to the forum home rather than the site home, so the forums feel like a lone site unless you know otherwise.

I can see you use the same software as UXM but I don’t know what it is capable of, can you put links between the two sites automatically using tags or listing most recent or relevant pages as a sidebar or footer section?

You’re in luck – I do. This is Discourse and I’m on the team that writes it.

Hey @Torsten – I don’t know how much flexibility you have with your main site, but why don’t you investigate some Discourse theme components and emulate them on your main site for consistency?

Here are a few that I’d recommend:

And here are a couple of examples of sites which do an excellent job of consistency between their site and their forum:

If you have more questions about community strategy I actively answer those in the community category on Meta.
