How would you specify the measurement for multiple applications?

I’ve been away from the industry for a couple of years and need to brush up my skills a little bit.

I was flickering around Materialdesign and came across measurements for elements specified in dp. Specifying measurements is nothing new to me. I wonder thought, how you would specify the measurement for elements in your design system? Specifying 48 for instance, does it imply that it’s both dp and px?

DP and px are separate types of measurements. DP is only for Android and px can be used for Android, iOS, or the web.

However, we don’t want to use pixel measurements on our apps or websites because then they won’t be responsive. You want to use rems or percentages.
