Feedback Button Best Practices

Is anyone aware of a resource that outlines the pros and cons of collecting feedback via an on-demand feedback button in an interface? I’ve gotten some great results with this in the past, but I need to justify this method to my new company. I want to ensure I am using best practices.

The only con is if it interferes with what the user is doing - you would surely get bad feedback if you put that in a popup! But if it is not intrusive, it’s definitely useful. I worked in an Ed-Tech company that did very little usability testing and aside from feedback from the sales team, that feedback button was our main way of identifying and prioritising problems.

Having a feedback button on your website is always a added advantage. I don’t think there is any cons of it but there are lots of benefits having feedback button. In my opinion it is a best practice.
