Contextual Inquiry while Training?

Hello -

I’m working on the research phase and would like to gather some info via contextual inquiry. One of my main users is currently training a new associate on the software. My thought was that he’ll be verbalizing most of his work as the new user is watching which is beneficial. I may also be able to catch the new user in their first couple of days with the mouse.

Is there any downside to an inquiry at this stage?

I’d go for it. It sounds like a great idea. It might be worth doing an additional one in a normal situation if you have the resources and then compare and contrast.

I guess the only thing is that you don’t want to be too distracting for the person being trained.
