Benchmarking e-commerce

Hi All,

I’m working on a benchmark test for a checkout flow and design that is being redesigned, and I’m trying to figure out the best tasks to incorporate. Should they be more straightforward - send participants right to a product page and ask them to checkout so it will be easier to focus on time on task, etc.? Or should they more realistic - ask them to find a product and then checkout, even though we are not redesigning the product pages?

Any advice on this and/or any advice on benchmarking in general would be greatly appreciated!
