My journey into UX started out of my previous job as a web developer, and a previous previous job as an entrepreneur.
Story 1: I was living in the silicon valley on India - Bangalore. People were starting up all around me, and I wanted to too. So I made my own e-commerce website called Stickerz.in - selling custom made stickers and posters. For about 8 months, it was going great. But the traffic decreased after that, and eventually went to zero.
Story 2: After the startup I continued working a web developer. Building end-to-end web apps was my thing. Though I was good at development, my websites looked bad, and weren't so usable.
I started Googling and learnt a lot of things on my own. I just didn't know I was learning UX.
What I learned clicked, and I discovered where I might've gone wrong with my startup.
All this finally lead me to a graduate degree in HCI, which I'm now half way through.
I love UX, and I'm very happy to be pursuing a career in it.
