User screen recording is picking of Laptop's fan noise?

Hi, I’ve been recording myself today with Camtasia, but on playback my laptop’s fan is very loud on the audio, anybody got a good solution for this.

I reckon external USB Microphone will work, I’d appreciate any tips on a good Mic to purchase.

In regard to external USB mics, I hear a lot of good reports of the Blue range - http://bluemic.com/

There’s also some potentially useful info (making use of external sound cards for example) in this thread - http://superuser.com/questions/358021/audio-recording-background-noise

Hope this helps.

I have a Blue Snowball USB microphone. It works well and from memory was a bit over $100. I’ve never used it for recording usability testing sessions, but it’s quite a common choice for beginner podcasters (we use it for the UX Mastery podcast).
