Hi, my name is James. I thought I would make a post here since I keep ending up here while looking for advice how to transition into UX Design!
A little about me: I graduated from a UC a few years ago with a degree in Psychology. Throughout all of high school and college, I never REALLY figured out what I wanted to do and after I graduated, I kind of drifted. I eventually ended up doing a little part time work as a marketer for a small new company. Recently, I stumbled onto UX Design and it really sounded like something that I wanted to try to pursue, as someone who always gets frustrated by confusing designs and interfaces
. I can honestly say I haven’t been this excited to learn in a long time!
That being said, I have no experience in design, so I am currently trying to acquire some relevant skills/knowledge. (I’m hoping some of my Psychology education will be relevant though.
) I recently enrolled in Design 101 at DesignLabs (which is starting in a few days) with the goal of entering their UX Academy after I finish. In the meantime, I am auditing an HCI class at Coursera and looking into some other intro classes I can take at Udemy and other sites.
Anyways, I just wanted to say thank you for this community and its resources. If anyone has advice for how or where to connect with UX mentors or anything else I can do right now, please let me know. Thanks!
