Customer Development Interviews

Hi

Anyone go some good tips for conducting ‘Customer Development’ Interviews.

We are looking at a college project in online media, and want to test the market to see if users have this need before we get into the build. However we want to interview people, without presenting our product, in order to get some unbiased feedback.

Its tricky so far, difficult to get a conversation down the the road you want, and talk about their habits. With getting into our idea.

Can you approach it from the direction of the topic?

When we do feasibility research for online communities we don’t tell the potential audience what the community will be about, but we ask them what their biggest challenges are, what would make their day easier, what keeps them up at night etc until they mention something in line with the topic. Then we dig deeper around that.
